The Moment of Hope for Zimbabwe
The February 2009 formation of the inclusive government in Zimbabwe, and the subsequent mitigation to the decade long socioeconomic and political crisis, is a crucial opportunity to rebuild and strengthen a vibrant civil society sector vital for democracy and development. While the unity government remains shaky, important economic and political reforms are underway giving Zimbabweans real hope in a peaceful democratic transition. With these reforms, the opportunity exists to build robust democratic institutions and strengthen democratic actors.
